First Graders are busy "reading every day" in the month of February. Last Thursday six Orono Lions met with the First grade students and teachers in the school cafeteria. Each student who reads 20 minutes or more every day in February will receive from the Orono Lions, a $20 gift certificate to spend as they choose at Borders Book Store. The teachers were supplied with special sheets for the children or their parents to keep a reading record for the month. Early in March we will meet again with the successful students to congratulate them on their achievement. The certificates will be mailed from the school.

Each year at least 120 students have earned the prize. Teachers and staff have been marvelous and extremely helpful on this project.
